Thermal Runaway Calorimeter
Thermal runaway calorimetry is an experimental assessment that is performed to estimate the total energy released from a cell in the event of thermal runaway. The purpose of this model is to account for all the energy released during thermal runaway in Belmont Scientific’s proprietary thermal runaway calorimeter (TRC).
TRC is even capable of handling cells which can raise internal temperatures over 2000 degrees C. Belmont Scientific’s TRC consists of an insulated stainless-steel holder, insulated pipes inside the oven and outside the oven. Piping outside the oven is designed in such a way that outgoing temperatures are close to room temperature.
