Battery Safety Testing
Battery Safety Testing
BSI team members developed test methods for evaluating the safety of batteries and battery components in the late 1990s. Some of these methods have become benchmark safety testing in the battery industry. Recently, the experts at BSI developed new techniques to fully account for total energy released during runaway; Fractional Thermal Runaway Calorimeter (FTRC) and Thermal Runaway Calorimeter (TRC).
BSI have performed numerous tests on Li-ion/Li-metal batteriessuch as ARC, Abuse testing, Thermal ramps and more. The outcome of the test results aid in determining the onset temperature, adiabatic temperature rise, heat of reaction, total energy released and other thermal characteristics.
BSI performs safety testing on all types of batteries/battery packs; Cylindrical, Pouch, Prismatic with capacities ranging from 0.2 Ah to 50 Ah.
